How to spot a blocked drain
Often the first thing you’ll notice will be a bit of a smell, or a gurgling sound from your plugholes. The cause will probably only become clear, though, when water refuses to drain from a sink or bath or your toilet nearly overflows when you flush. Once you do know something’s wrong, it’s important you seek help immediately, as overflowing drains will not only damage your property but are a serious threat to health.

Possible Causes
Most of the time it’s simply the build-up of what’s gone into the drain, like grease, silt and leaves, that eventually blocks them. This is all part of the normal wear and tear. Then there are foreign objects, often items flushed down a toilet, which cause a blockage. Finally, it might be a structural defect or breakage caused by tree roots, corrosion or subsidence. Whatever the problem, we can deal with it.
